Whatever I do that is challenging, if I get to do it again and again, then each time means, that the results of that challenge need to improve, so I always want to beat myself.
If I can swim 20 lengths, then I tell myself I can swim 30 lengths and if I can do that, I tell myself I can swim 40 and so on. I don’t want to stop improving on what I can do, as there are so many things I can’t
Is that beating as in winning, or beating as in beating yourself up about something. There are lots of things that often come to mind that I have not finished , not done right or failed to do and during those times I can really beat myself up about them.
I NEVER think about winning, as that is an outcome that cannot be controlled by me!
I enjoy the game too much to worry about the outcome. Although I do enjoy winning when it happens against an equal or better opponent.
