Not a meal exactly but a bowl of carrot and coriander soup. It was watery and crunchy and tasted horrible and cost £12 pound. Didnt get any bread with it either.
My most expensive meal was in the Lake District at John Tovey’s in the ‘80’s and I still make his mushroom pate to this day. From his cookbook.
