How far is it from Australia to Scotland?
Answer:Well you can probably figure out that it's a long way.
What is it like to swim in open water in Scotland? We talk about this.
We also talk about what the impact of Prince William and Prince Harry talking about mental health.
We talk about local councils collecting data for the sake of collecting data - and maybe - just maybe to stick posters up on the wall saying
"We support your mental health"
We talked about burnout in the fitness industry.
Maggie's most unusual place she has visited is Libya and Iraq (Erbil) and the difference between ancient ruins there and ancient ruins in places that are more built up - like Greece and Rome.
Remember though - don't try this at home kids - they probably aren't the safest places to go...
The normalite way of thinking is to try and work harder and harder than your competitor.
There are loads of tools and software out there to scan for backlinks and reverse engineer what people are doing.
Instead of going on endless fools errands and blind alleys figuring which of these tools to use (and paying for the privilege), Hope Zvara took a different approach.
By the way - the top results for Yoga on YouTube is Yoga with Adrienne. She has almost 4 million subscribers and over 400 videos.
Do you think you can compete with that?
NO I thought not.
What Hope Zvara has done is to take work a bi smarter.
Who is the typical audience for conventional yoga teachers like Adrienne?
Students, semi pro and wanna be semi pro athletes.
Who would benefit from Yoga?
ummm - everybody.
So by dropping all the ritual chanting and other stuff, Hope Zvara has written herself into the Funky Thinkers text book.
(When you get to a stop sign - Instead of drumming your fingers on the dashboard - think of this as a queue to turn your head to the left and the right...)
If you have listened to more than a handful of Funky Thinkers episodes, you will realise that everyone gets the same questions.
It is just my way of stopping those people who come on a show and pitch their product or book or book camp or whatever.
I don't know about you listening - but I sometimes change the questions.
For some reason, when asked the question
"If you had a time machine - where would you go to ?"
A large percentage of people said ancient Greece, Rome, Aztecs, Incas.
The second question that needed changing was
"If you had a magic wand - what would you get"
Many people would say "Money" or "Time"
Money is good but it is a boring answer. Time just means the money to employ other people to do the junk you don't want to do.
Lieze had the best answer
"We already have a wand - it is our mind"
THAT IS WHY YOU NEED to listen to Funky Thinkers. To rail away from the salespeople and schill merchants on most other podcasts.
Jennifer Gardner is fed up with social media.
I am pretty sure that there are many people like Jennifer.
It is "uncool" to say so.
When everyone else is having such a good time, living such perfect lives.
It's hard to admit - to go against the tide.
To think Funky.
Maybe that's you.
Maybe you will get an insight into the real non airbrushed, selfie ready, instagram following world.
Jennifer says that she detoxes by just sitting out on her back porch starring at the sky, listening and looking at the wildlife.
When was the last time you did this? (Without holding a pod or a pad or a mobile device).
You should try it.
Start though, by listening to the duologue below.
After a brief trip round Bruce Springsteen album names, we settle down to business.
Capitalism - the running of business for a profit tends to focus on the cool stuff.
Very little focus and attention is placed on what happens when someone is unable (or unwilling) to carry out their job.
Julio Briones has thought of that.
Answerman Speciality Services can provide help, advice and consulting when family members or employees have been arrested, got into trouble with drugs, legal issues or anything which is likely to take their mind off the issue of working or being productive.
We talk about punk rock - not this modern new fangled stuff - the original 1970's acts. The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, The Stranglers.
Which is interesting - because recently, there was a big thing in the news about Madonna at 60.
Well, I have to say - there would be no Madonna (or Spice Girls or Girls Aloud or Rihanna or Lady Gaga any of those without an original Funky Thinker - Siouxsie Sioux. There is a video at the bottom of this page.
Remember - Funky Thinkers is about getting an idea or an insight that you wouldn't ordinarily have got - by hanging round with "the usual crowd."
Why always get the middle seat is a question that I get an answer in my conversation with Pradeepa Narayanswamy.
She found her life's purpose through a difficult and painful journey.
I get a pretty good guide on the difference between a consultant, a coach and a counsellor. (Not what you think).

Reza Rezz - Lives in the largest pine forest in the world.
The answer (to the question) is that people talk about "getting out of the comfort zone" but it is a phrase that is worn out. It means nothing...
Until of course, you have some random guy or gal invading your personal space on an industrial scale.
Reza Rezz talks about the gamification of life. His own. Everyone gets 86400 seconds in a day. Imagine if that was money, and any that wasn't spent had to be given back the next day.
After this call, I did find myself trying to empty the dishwasher in the 30 seconds it took for the microwave to beep.
On a practical scale, the discussion about the endless scrolling nature of social media is a very smart observance. You should listen to the episode just for that.

Reza is there - honest. If you look closely, you can see his head.
Jacqui Letran is a Mindset Mentor specializing in helping teens and young adults take control of their lives by taking control of their minds.
Why is this important?
Your self-confidence is so important because it is the foundation of who you are.
Self-confidence is the exact opposite of insecurities, anxiety, and self-doubt. Your confidence level directly affects everything in your life. It controls how you see yourself, your experiences, and your life!
If you have a strong belief in who you are and what you are capable of, you are more likely to go after what you want with courage, determination, and excitement. Likewise, if you feel bad about who you are, you'll tend to create a lot of negative and often scary "worst-case scenarios" in your mind. This keeps you fearful and stops you from doing what you want to do.
Jacqui could be the new wonder woman.
With her magic wand, she would develop the ability to teleport to somewhere else - instantly.
She would travel out into space - in the future to see what it is like.
Dane Dormio - As the song goes - An American in Nepal
I have to say that I know NOTHING about martial arts and related disciplines.
Maybe my ignorance shows through but this was a good episode for me.
Going back in time to places and events I have never heard of keeps you sharp and talking about things about which you have very little knowledge is good for the wits.
Good for the mind - body masterer as we discussed.
Dane Dormio hates politics, news, most sports, the rest of the world.
He does read Lee Child/Jack Reacher novels which I know I need to have a look at at some point soon.
Contact Dane - www.danedormio.com or as I always say - kids are victims of their parents and there IS ONLY ONE Dane Dormio on the internet. Google him and get in touch.
Aarn is funky thinking personified.
He was overweight, (dangerously) unhealthy and very unhappy.
He looked at what the diet, health, wellness INDUSTRY was providing him.
Books, DVD's training courses, bootcamps, gym memberships which do what?
Make money FOR THEM...
Aarn did the exact opposite of what "conventional" wisdom, the gurus and the rest of the world told him, AND GOT RESULTS.
Being a funky thinker - who knew...
To give you the detail - he lost 200lbs (that's 14 stone/90kg) and his wife lost 100lbs.
He had no idea what supertram was - why would he ? Picture below...
His time is spent playing clash of clans - I have no clue what that is but it sounds addictive.
Like several other funky thinkers before him, Aarn would like to go back to the crucifixtion to see what actually happened...And who was right and who was wrong...
If you are new to weight loss and struggling with the whole mainstream diet thing, Aarn recommended a few books which are below.
The South Yorkshire super tram is pictured above. Ideal for listening to audio books and playing clash of clans on...
